Text With Images
Born on January 16th, 1987, Kiki Romeo spent the first
six years of his life in Togo, West Africa. Raised in a
single family home Kiki Romeo's mother was adamant
about him and his older brother going to church. His
first introduction to music Kiki Romeo was drawn to
the church choir and quickly became the drummer. His big break came in 1996
when he won a local MC contest sponsored by
one of the biggest festivals in Africa,
FESTEF.
Few months later Kiki Romeo's fame was cut short when he moved involuntarily
to Marseille, France to live with his father. Adapting quickly to his new surroundings
Kiki Romeo fell in love with French hip-hop and rap. While developing his language
skills Kiki Romeo began rapping and soon gave birth to his own style of French and
American hip-hop mix. With this new style at the age of 16 he decided to pursue a
career in the world of hip-hop.
In 2003, KiKi Romeo wrote and produced Sacrifice, his debut album. The album
spawned a number of breakaway singles including, “Je Voudrais Partir” featuring
Ossara, “Tatim Ne Mavo,” & “G La Money.” Empowered by the first albums success
Kiki Romeo decided to return to the studio to start work on his second album.
Before his work could be completed Kiki Romeo was once again forced to move, this
time here to the states in order to continue his education.
After a few years of long hard work Kiki Romeo graduated with an Associate’s
Degree in Electronics & Computer Technology. KiKi Romeo moved to Indianapolis,
IN where he plans to continue his music career, fusing African, French, and
American hip-hop. With his accent, talent, and style, KiKi Romeo has
everything to take his hip-hop into a unique and unbreakable dimension.
